Tamer Ghaly, MD
Biography:
With extensive experience in a wide variety of interventional fluoroscopic guided pain management procedures, Dr. Ghaly is in practice with Valley Orthopedic Specialists, operating out of the office in Shelton, Connecticut. He has an expertise in treating complex regional pain syndrome CRPS. His areas of clinical specialty include acute and chronic pain, joint problems, sports injuries, postsurgical pain, sciatica, spinal stenosis, facet joints pain , pelvic pain, post herpetic neuralgia, sacroiliac joint pain, myofascial pain, piriformis muscle pain, peripheral nerve blocks , other spine disorders and neuropathies.
Alongside his position at Valley Orthopedic Specialists since 2013 , and Saint Mary’s hospital since 2009 , also he has been affiliated with Chase Medical Research since 2019 and is a physician investigator on their osteoarthritis research studies. He collaborates with Joseph Soufer, MD in offering clinical trials to people in the greater Waterbury area.
In regards to his educational background, Dr. Ghaly completed his undergraduate and medical degrees at Cairo University school of Medicine in Egypt. Upon relocating to the United States, he finished his residency at Brookdale University Hospital, followed by his Pain fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Excelling in treating chronic and acute pain, he is board-certified in pain medicine and anesthesiology by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology.
On a professional level, Dr. Ghaly is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the Connecticut Pain Society, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Medical Association.
